We’re proud to partner with Up Top Acres to design and maintain a vegetable and herb garden on our rooftop so our residents can enjoy a variety of produce through the summer and fall!
“Produce doesn’t get more local than this,” said Grosvenor Americas Senior Development Manager Nihar Shah. “Together with Up Top Acres, we’ll be able to give our residents a unique and environmentally conscious farmland for them to enjoy fresh produce right from the rooftop that also enjoys direct views into the Nats Stadium.”
“Knowing that Up Top Acres has farms on office buildings in Capitol Riverfront, we wanted to add the one-of-a-kind amenity to F1RST,” said McCaffery Interests Project Manager of Development Luke Koczela. “Our residents will be able to grill vegetables ten feet from where they were grown.”
Up Top Acres is managing and operating the F1RST Residences’ rooftop farm. Planting will begin in mid-July and harvest will go through the fall. Some of the initial plants include arugula, zucchini, and basil.
“F1RST is giving its residents a community-supported agriculture program,” said Up Top Acres Co-Founder Kristof Grina. “This new farm will transform an underutilized part of the rooftop into a vibrant, productive living ecosystem – and bring ‘farm-to-table’ right in the same property.”
